AgroServ enables researchers from academia and industry and all practitioners who are interested in doing research in agroecology to access installations and services across Europe. Applicants to AgroServ's open calls can aim to have access to transnational scientific data, specialized expertise, experimental sites, technology, and laboratories, connecting professionals from chemistry, biology, agronomy, ecology, bioengineering, analysis, sociology, and economics.

BiodivERsA+ is the European Biodiversity Partnership that supports excellent research on biodiversity with an impact on policy and society. Co-developed and launched in 2021 by BiodivERsA and the European Commission as part of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, it contributes to the ambition that by 2030, nature in Europe is on a path to recovery, and by 2050, people are living in harmony with nature.

Next call: 2026 – 2027 Joint Call

The sixth Biodiversa+ annual joint call for research will be on the topic of “Future sustainable socio-ecological systems: trajectories of change” (#BiodivFuture). This call will be transversal to several flagship programmes including the ones on “Supporting biodiversity and ecosystem protection across land and sea” and on “Supporting societal transformation for the sustainable use and management of biodiversity”.

Indicative timing

  • June 2026: Pre-announcement of the call, with further information on its scope and the call process
  • September 2026: Official launch of the BiodivFuture call
  • November 2026: Deadline for the submission of pre-proposals

Rural development is the 'second pillar' of the common agricultural policy (CAP), reinforcing the 'first pillar' of income supports and market measures by strengthening the social, environmental and economic sustainability of rural areas. 

The CAP’s contribution to the EU's rural development objectives is supported by the European agricultural fund for rural development (EAFRD). The EAFRD budget for 2021-27 amounts to €95.5 billion, which includes an injection of €8.1 billion from the next generation EU recovery instrument to help address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
